Other animals and barbed wire

Animals large and small are affected by harmful fencing. Those that attempt to go over or under a fence risk becoming entangled but also those that find themselves fenced in along a road with no escape out.  Juveniles are particularly at risk. Most of the fences that animals encounter run along the edges of livestock pastures, private property lines or roads, and are composed of four or five strands of barbed wire. Some have  wire mesh at the bottom, the most common type of fence for containing sheep.
